† ˈpapin Obs. In 5 papyn. [app. a. F. papin, now ‘pap for children’. Cf. Sc. Pappin ‘a sort of batter or paste, generally made of flour and water, used by weavers for dressing their linen warp, or their webs’ (Jam.).] A dish composed of milk, flour, and yolks of eggs, sweetened with sugar.
