para-aminobenzoic, a.|ˌpærəəmiːnəʊbɛnˈzəʊɪk| [f. para-1 2 b + aminobenzoic s.v. amino-.] para-aminobenzoic acid: the para-isomer of aminobenzoic acid, which is sometimes considered a member of the vitamin-B group, is widely distributed in plant and animal tissue, has the ability to neutralize the bacteriostatic effects of the sulphonamides, and has been used in the treatment of rickettsial infections, esp. typhus and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
