Each of two lateral appendages of the ligula in various insects.
1826Kirby & Sp. Entomol. III. 359 Paraglossæ..Lateral and often membranous processes observable on each side of the tongue in some Hymenoptera, etc. 1878Bell Gegenbaur's Comp. Anat. 246 This has two lateral appendages, or secondary tongues (paraglossæ), at its base.
