There formerly existed at Parramatta a convict establishment in which clothing materials were produced: cf. Encycl. Brit. (ed. 7) XVII. 65/2; perhaps the modern stuff (which according to Beck Draper's Dict. was invented at Bradford) was in imitation of these; there is no evidence for the assertion that the fabric was orig. made of wool imported from Parramatta.]
