parascene Gr. and Rom. Antiq.|ˈpærəsiːn| Also in L. form paraˈscenium. [a. F. parascène, mod.L. parascēnium, a. Gr. παρασκήνιον, one of the side-entrances to the stage, a side-scene, f. παρα- side + σκηνή stage.] The part of an ancient theatre on either side of the stage, comprising rooms to which the actors retired; the side-scene.
