† paˈrentate, v. Obs. [f. L. parentāt-, ppl. stem of parentāre, f. parent-em parent: see -ate3. Cf. F. parenter in same sense.] intr. To celebrate the funeral rites of parents or relations; hence in general sense, to offer funeral obsequies.
