1. Belonging to the island of Paros, one of the Cyclades, famed for a white marble highly valued among the ancients for statuary.
Parian Chronicle, a famous chronicle of Grecian history from the reign of Cecrops b.c. 1450 to the archonship of Diotimus b.c. 354, engraved on marble; formerly kept in the island of Paros, and now preserved among the Arundel Marbles at Oxford; a further fragment was found in 1897 and is kept on Paros.

3. Parian cement, a plaster similar to Keene's cement but prepared with borax in place of alum.
1858P. L. Simmonds Dict. Trade Products 276/1 Parian-cement, a fine or coarse cement, according to the purpose for which it is to be used. 1880Encycl. Brit. XI. 351/2 Parian cement is plaster hardened with water containing 10 per cent. of borax. 1949Kirk & Othmer Encycl. Chem. Technol. III. 443 Keene's cement is the best known of the hard-plaster group, others, differing only slightly, being Parian cement and Martin's cement.
