1. Belonging to the island of Paros, one of the Cyclades, famed for a white marble highly valued among the ancients for statuary.
Parian Chronicle, a famous chronicle of Grecian history from the reign of Cecrops b.c. 1450 to the archonship of Diotimus b.c. 354, engraved on marble; formerly kept in the island of Paros, and now preserved among the Arundel Marbles at Oxford; a further fragment was found in 1897 and is kept on Paros.
