† parisis, parisee Obs. Also 5 -ysee, -esi, 6 -yse, 8 -isis. [a. F. parisis:—L. parīsiens-em Parisian, f. Parīsiī Paris.] 1. A word, orig. adj., meaning ‘of Paris’; used to distinguish deniers struck at Paris, which were worth one-fourth more than those struck at Tours; hence n. a denier of Paris.
