ˈpeace-ˌoffering [f. peace n. + offering.] 1. In the Eng. Bible, as a term of the Levitical law, An offering or sacrifice presented as an expression of thanksgiving to God. In Heb. zebaχ hashshĕlāmīm, or simply shelem, pl. shĕlāmīm, prob. more accurately, ‘thank-offering’.
1535Coverdale 1 Macc. i. 45 Antiochus..forbad ether burntofferynge, meatofferynge or peaceofferynge [R.
