Penbritin Pharm.|pɛnˈbrɪtɪn, ˈpɛnbrɪtɪn| A proprietary name for ampicillin, C16H19O4S, a semi-synthetic penicillin that resembles penicillin G (benzylpenicillin) in its action against Gram-positive organisms but is more effective against Gram-negative ones, and is used esp. in treating infections of the urinary and the respiratory tracts.
