[L. pēnis orig. = cauda ‘tail’, afterwards as here.]
a. The intromittent or copulatory organ of any male animal (in Mammalia also traversed by the urethra).
In Zool. sometimes extended to organs which deposit spermatozoa without intromission. In Entom. formerly used to include in addition accessory structures, as claspers.
