peracetic, a. Chem.|pɜːrəˈsiːtɪk| [f. per-1 5 b + acetic a.] peracetic acid: CH3CO·O·OH, a colourless, corrosive, pungent liquid that is explosive when hot and is widely used, usu. dissolved in acetic acid, as an oxidizing agent in synthesis, as a bleach and as a sterilizing agent, etc.
