CCXLIV. 635 It is impossible to make a verb or a verbal noun from ‘permafrost’ as ‘permafrosting’ and ‘permafrosted’ imply that a permanent surface or coating has been applied... Further, the term cannot be easily converted into other European languages. These various objections can be met by a new term... Such a word is ‘pergelisol’. 1963Geomorphol.
