[ad. L. perōrātion-em the winding up of a speech, n. of action from L. perōrāre: see prec. So obs. F. péroration, F. péroraison.]
1. The concluding part of an oration, speech, or written discourse, in which the speaker or writer sums up and commends to his audience with force or earnestness the matter which he has placed before them; hence, any rhetorical conclusion to a speech.
