perpetuant Math.|pəˈpɛtjuːənt| [ad. L. perpetuānt-em, pr. pple. of perpetuāre: see -ant.] 1. A seminvariant not reducible to a sum (or sum of products) of seminvariants of lower degree.
1885Cayley Coll. Math. Papers XII. 251 A seminvariant which is not reducible is said to be irreducible, or otherwise to be a perpetuant.
