‖ petroˈlatum Pharm. [mod.L., f. petrol + -ātum in acetatum, sulphatum, etc.: see -ate1 c.] The official name in U.S. Pharm. for pure Vaseline, called in the British Pharm. paraffinum molle; = petroleum jelly.
