A phanerogamic or flowering plant. (Opposed to cryptogam.) Chiefly in plural.
In pl. phanerogams = mod.L. Phanerogamæ, plantæ phanerogamæ (Humboldt, Nova Gen. et Sp. Plant., 1815).
