phænogam, phe- Bot.|ˈfiːnəgæm| [f. mod.L. phænogama, sc. vegetabilia (Willdenow 1804), or phænogamæ (sc. plantæ), f. Gr. ϕαινο- showing + γάµος marriage, sexual union; in Ger. phanogamen n. pl. (Rudolphi 1807).] A flowering plant; = phanerogam. So phænoˈgamian, phænoˈgamic |fɛ-| adjs. = phanerogamic; phæˈnogamous a., producing flowers, flowering; = phanerogamous.
