phoronid, n. (and a.) Zool.|ˈfɒrənɪd| [f. mod.L. Phoronida, f. Phoronis: see -id3.] Any coelomate marine worm of the phylum Phoronida (orig. considered to include only the genus Phoronis), characterized by a horseshoe-shaped lophophore. Also attrib. or as adj., esp. as phoronid worm.
