picarel|ˈpɪkərɛl| [Fr.: cf. pickerel1.] A small marine fish belonging to the family Centracanthidæ (Mæna), found in the eastern Atlantic, the Mediterranean, and the Indian Ocean; esp. the Mediterranean species, Mæna smaris.
