pilewort|ˈpaɪlwɜːt| [f. pile n.6 + wort, from its reputed efficacy against piles, after the med.L. name ficaria: cf. figwort.] The Lesser Celandine or Figwort (Ranunculus Ficaria or Ficaria verna), an early spring-flowering plant allied to the buttercups, with bright yellow starry flowers. Also extended to the whole genus or sub-genus Ficaria.
