▪ I. pinguin|ˈpɪŋgwɪn| Also penguin, penquin (pinquin). [Origin unascertained.] A West Indian plant (Bromelia Pinguin) allied to the pine-apple, or its fruit; used in fevers and as an anthelmintic. It is not clear that Dampier's penguin was a Bromelia.
