The herb Spigelia marilandica (family Loganiaceæ), a native of the Southern U.S., having showy funnel-shaped flowers, red outside and yellow within, called Carolina pink, Indian pink, or worm-grass; also, the allied species S. Anthelmia, of the W. Indies and S. America (Demerara pinkroot).
