pittancer Obs. exc. Hist.|ˈpɪtənsə(r)| Forms: see pittance; in 5 -ere, -eere, -eer, 8– -er, (9 pietancer, pitanciar, -ier). [ME. pitauncere, ad. OF. pitancier (1297 in Godef.), in med.L. pitantiārius, f. pitance pittance: see -er2.] An officer in a religious house having the duty of distributing and accounting for the pittances.
