单词 plough-foot
释义 ˈplough-foot, ˈplow- Obs.
[Cf. Norw. dial. plog-fot.]
In a wheelless plough, an adjustable piece of wood or iron, attached to the front of the beam, regulating the depth of the ploughing: see quots.
It is doubtful however whether the plow-fote in Piers Plowman had this meaning; the variant reading plow-bat and the context point rather to its identity with plough-staff.
