polemoniaceous, a. Bot.|pɒlɪməʊnɪˈeɪʃəs| [f. mod. Bot. L. Polemōniāceæ (f. Polemōnium, a. Gr. πολεµώνιον the Greek Valerian, f. proper name Πολέµων, or, according to Pliny, from πόλεµος war): see -aceous.] Of or belonging to the Polemoniaceæ, a family of herbaceous plants, chiefly natives of temperate countries, the typical genus of which, Polemonium, contains the Jacob's ladder or Greek Valerian, P. cæruleum.
