Polyergus Ent.|pɒlɪˈɜːgəs| Also polyergus. [mod.L. (P. A. Latreille 1804, in Nouveau Dict. Hist. Nat. XXIV. 179), f. Gr. πολύεργος hard-working.] A slave-making ant of the genus so called, found in Europe and North America; = Amazon-ant.
