polytomy|pəˈlɪtəmɪ| [f. Gr. πολυ-, poly- + -τοµια, f. -τοµος cut. Cf. F. polytomie.] The condition or character of being polytomous. (Distinguished from dichotomy and trichotomy.) 1. Bot. Division into several (more than two) branches at the same point.
