‖ poojah, puja E. Indies.|ˈpudʒa| Also 7 poujah, pudgiah, 9– pooja, 20 pujah. [a. Skr. pūjā worship.] Rites performed in the worship of Hindū deities; any Hindū religious ceremony or rite; also fig. (in ridicule). Also puja pantai |panˈtaɪ| [Malay pantai, = beach, seashore] (see quot. 1965).
