† populeon Obs. Forms: 5 popylyon, 5–7 -ilion, 6–7 -uleon, (7 pompil(l)ion). [a. OF. populeon (15th c. in Godef. Compl.), ad. med.L. *pōpuleum, f. pōpulus poplar. OF. had popelion a 1300 (P. Meyer).] An ointment made of the buds of the Black Poplar.
