precellence rare. [ad. late L. præcellentia excellence, f. præcellĕre: see precel and -ence. Cf. obs. F. précellence (16th c. in Littré).] The fact or quality of excelling; pre-eminence. Quot. 1958 contains a rendering of Henri Estienne's title La Précellence du langage françois (1579).
