aromatase, n. Biochem. Brit. |əˈrəʊməteɪz|, U.S. |əˈroʊməˌteɪs|, |əˈroʊməˌteɪz| [‹ aromat- (in either aromatization n. or aromatize v.) + -ase suffix.] An enzyme that catalyses an aromatization reaction; spec. one that converts androgens to oestrogens by aromatization.
