protagon Physiol. Chem.|ˈprəʊtəgɒn| [a. G. protagon (Liebreich), f. Gr. πρῶτ-ος first + ἄγον, neut. pres. pple. of ἄγειν to lead.] A highly complex crystalline substance, containing nitrogen and phosphorus, found in brain and nerve tissue.
