† aˈswithe, as swithe, advb. phr. Obs. Also 4–5 alswithe, asswyþe, aswythe. This, besides its literal meaning ‘as quickly,’ had the sense: As quickly as possible, immediately. (See as A III, and cf. asfast, assoon, astite.)
