Rhynchosporium|rɪŋkəʊˈspɔərɪəm| Also rhyncho-. [mod.L. (E. Heinsen 1900, in Jahrb. d. Hamburg. Wissensch. Anstalten (3 Beiheft) XVIII. 43), f. Gr. ῥύγχο-ς snout + σπορ-ά sowing + L. -ium, neut. of -ius, adj. suffix.] A fungus of the genus so called, members of which cause leaf blotch in cereals and other grasses; also, the disease caused by this fungus.
