protriptyline Pharm.|prəʊˈtrɪptɪliːn| Also (erron.) protryptiline, protryptyline. [f. propyl + tri- + he)ptyl (s.v. heptane) + -ine5.] A tricyclic antidepressant, 5-(3-methylaminopropyl)dibenzo[a, e] cycloheptatriene, C19H21N, given as the hydrochloride, a white bitter-tasting powder.
