protégé, n.|ˈprɒtɛʒeɪ| Also fem. protégée. [F., ‘(one) protected’, pa. pple. of protéger, ad. L. prōtegĕre to protect.] One who is under the protection or care of another, esp. of a person of superior position or influence.
