rodgersia|rɒˈdʒɜːzɪə| Also Rodgersia. [mod.L. (A. Gray 1859, in Mem. Amer. Acad. New Ser. VI. 389), f. the name of John Rodgers (1812–82), American admiral + -ia1.] A large perennial herb of the genus so called, belonging to the family Saxifragaceæ, native to eastern Asia, and bearing compound leaves and terminal panicles of small white flowers.
