† balˈductum, -ta Obs. Also 6 balducktum, -ducketome. [med.L. balducta ‘pressed milk,’ curd. Said in Du Cange to be ‘quasi valde ducta’; which looks like ‘popular etymology.’] 1. A posset, hot milk curdled with ale or wine.
