Barff Metallurgy.|bɑːf| [The name of F. S. Barff, an American engineer.] A process for protecting iron and steel from rust by means of a coating of iron oxide produced by the application of steam to the heated surface. Hence Barff v. trans., to treat by this process (Webster, 1934). See Bower-Barff.
