rose of Jericho [Cf. Ecclus. xxiv. 14.] 1. A small annual cruciferous plant (Anastatica hierochuntina), native to the arid deserts of South-west Asia and North-east Africa, the dried fronds of which unfold under the influence of moisture; the resurrection plant, Mary's flower, or rose of the Virgin.
