‖ pseudechis Zool.|ps-, ˈsjuːdɛkɪs| [mod.L. generic name, f. Gr. ψευδ-, pseudo- + ἔχις viper.] A genus of very venomous snakes of the family Colubridæ, series Proteroglyphæ, subfamily Elapinæ, including the Black Snake or Purple Death-adder, P. porphyriacus of Australia. Hence attrib. pseudechis poison, pseudechis poisoning. Also pseuˈdechic a., of or pertaining to the Pseudechis.
