[mod.L. Cf. Gr. ψευδόστοµα the false or blind mouth (of a river), f. ψευδο- pseudo- + στόµα mouth.]
1. Anat. A point on the surface of a serous membrane, regarded by some as the mouth of one of the absorbents or lymphatic vessels which begin in such membranes.
1886Cassell's Encycl. Dict., Pseudostomata,..Anat. Flattened connective-tissue corpuscles passing up from the interior to the surface of the serous membranes. 1895Syd. Soc. Lex., Pseudostoma, one of the deeply-stained areas seen under the microscope in a silver-stained section of endothelium. Klein believes many of them to be the stained processes of connective-tissue cells.
