benzaldehyde Chem.|bɛnˈzældɪhaɪd| Also formerly benz-aldehyd. [ad. G. benzaldehyd, f. benzo- + aldehyde.] A colourless liquid aldehyde, C6H5CHO, having the odour of bitter almonds and used in the manufacture of perfumes, dyes, etc.
