A bird of the Pressirostres of Cuvier, now included in the Charadriomorphæ or plover-snipe group. So pressiˈrostral a., having the characteristics of the Pressirostres; pressiˈrostrate a., having a compressed beak (Mayne Expos. Lex. 1858).
