puerilism, n. Psychol. and Psychiatry.|ˈpjuːərɪlɪz(ə)m| [prob. ad. F. puérilisme childishness: see puerile a. and -ism.] The state or condition of behaving like a child; childish behaviour; spec. (a) (in an adult) a reversion to infantile behaviour, usu. as a symptom of mental disorder; (b) (in a child) that stage of normal development which follows infantilism and precedes puberty.
