a. adj. Belonging to or characteristic of the socialistic system propounded by the Comte de Saint-Simon (1760–1825), who advocated state control of all property and a distribution of the produce according to individual vocation and capacity.
b. n. An advocate of this system. Also Saint-Simonist, -Simonite |ˈsaɪmənɪst, -aɪt| in the same sense (also attrib. or as adj.). Hence Saint-Siˈmonianism, -ˈSimonism, advocacy of or adherence to this system.
