[Skr. samādhi a placing together, f. sam together + ā prefix + dhā to place (see do v.).]
1. a. The state of union with creation into which a perfected yogi or holy man is said to pass at his apparent death. b. The voluntary burial of such a person before death in anticipation of this state; the site of the burial of a holy man (cf. prec.).

2. The highest state of meditation, in which the distinctions between subject and object disappear and unity with creation is attained; the last stage of yoga.
