‖ samolus|səˈməʊləs| [L. samōlus (Pliny); said to be a Celtic word.] a. Antiq. A plant said to have been used in ancient Druidical ceremonies. b. Bot. Adopted (by Linnæus) as the name of a genus of plants belonging to the order Primulaceæ. Also, a plant of this genus.
