1. A large evergreen tree, Achras Sapota, native of tropical America, having a durable wood and an edible fruit. Also called naseberry.
1697W. Dampier Voy. I. 39 Where there grow great Groves of Sapadillies, which is a sort of Fruit much like a Pear, but more juicy. 1699L.
